The Impact You'll Make in this Role As a Shopper Marketer in the Consumer Business Group, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by: Knowing the shopper group you’re responsible for intimately, understanding their needs, path to purchase, conversion drivers, and barriers to adoption. Developing a solid understanding of 3M brands, products and brand campaigns. Brands include but are not limited to Post‑it, Scotch, Meguiar’s, Filtrete, Nexcare, and Command Brands. Leading the creation, execution, and measurement of a Shopper Marketing Plan with a specific focus on new customer acquisition, whitespace expansion, and new channel entry. Building relationships with key Marketing personnel at your account and being highly collaborative with Sales Representatives and Category Development Managers. Evaluating the financial viability of various marketing tactics and managing budget. Identifying new retail formats, emerging digital‑first channels, and alternative customer touchpoints, and developing activation strategies tailored to these environments. Designing and executing test‑and‑learn programs to validate new channel opportunities and optimize shopper conversion. Translating shopper insights into launch‑ready retail programs, onboarding toolkits, and channel‑specific messaging for new customer segments. Partnering with Sales and Business Development teams to build custom shopper programs that support new customer pitches and national account expansion. Your Skills and Expertise To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications: Bachelor’s degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start) Seven (7) years of combined experience in sales, marketing, analytics, or category/retail management in the consumer‑packaged‑goods industry in a private, public, government or military environment One (1) year of experience working with new channels or business development Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include: Master’s degree in Marketing or Business Administration from an accredited institution Ten (10) years of combined experience in sales, marketing, analytics, or category/retail management in the consumer‑packaged‑goods industry Strong interpersonal and persuasion skills, with demonstrated experience leading cross‑functional teams and influencing across differing interests and perspectives Previous experience in a shopper marketing role, eCommerce, or advanced analytics Demonstrated project management and budget management skills Experience developing shopper strategies for new channels, such as emerging retail formats, value channel, specialty retail, or digital‑native partnerships Proven track record supporting new customer or business development efforts, including building retailer‑specific activation plans, sell‑in materials, and launch programs Experience conducting or applying shopper insights research to validate opportunities in new segments or markets Ability to translate early‑stage customer or channel opportunities into clear, actionable retail and digital activation plans Work location: On-site: This role follows an on-site working model, requiring the employee to work at least four days a week at the 3M Center in Maplewood, MN.
